Helge, thanks for your dedication to the sport. Without people like you we wouldn’t know what is realy going on on raceday or would have to wait for the TV networks to report about it. Plus sites like yours show so much more. We get the true insight view of the day to day happening of a team. I am looking forward to next years Dakar coverage. Lets join forces and create one large Dakar forum for all the german and US (and others) teams…..

Das stimmt natuerlich. Das hier war nichts grosses. Hat aber sicherlich Potential, wenn die Vorbereitung stimmt. Trotzdem finde ich es wichtig, den ausnahmslos angenehmen Ton hier zu erwaehnen. Ist leider auch bei kleinen Projekten nicht immer selbstverstaendlich.

Die Idee ist absolut gut, ich wäre auch sofort dabei. Aber einen offiziellen Empfang in Hannover und eine organisierte Rückreise wird es wohl nicht geben. Ein Pressemitteilung zum Thema gab es auch nicht.Robby fliegt auf jeden Fall direkt nach New York und die anderen kommen ja auch aus allen Himmelsrichtungen. Ich weiss es aber nicht und Dirk kann ich nicht erreichen. Ich werd ihn morgen nochmal drauf ansprechen.

Helge, weiÃt Du eigentlich schon, wie die Rückkehr hier nach Deutschland aussehen wird? Evtl. Bei VW-Wolfsburg oder VW-Motorsport in Hannover? Währe evtl. ja die Möglichkeit eines „Fantreffens“.

Da hatte Dirk aber eine wirklich gute Idee! 🙂 Und jemanden, der einen echt guten Job gemacht hat 🙂

Der angenehme Umgangston hier ist wirklich herausragend, gerade wenn man sich andere Foren anschaut. Klaus hat sicher recht, das wird an der Grösse der Gruppe liegen. Besonders gefallen hat mir natürlich auch die Internationalität.

Habe auch mal wieder das eine oder andere dazugelernt, und manche Dakar Teilnehmer „kennengelernt“ – kannte Dirk z.B. vom Namen her, aber das war’s auch schon, und Robby war halt einer der US-NASCAR Boys, dass der so ein guter „Typ“ ist, hätte ich nicht gedacht.

Das ganze hat einem die Dakar erheblich näher gebracht und miterlebbarer gemacht. Habe mich zwar schon seit Jahren immer auf die Dakar und die Wüstenbilder gefreut, aber so mitgefiebert wie dieses Jahr habe ich bislang nicht. Dazu hat aber wahrscheinlich auch unser Besuch beim Start in Barcelona beigetragen. Und ich bin jetzt endgültig Rallye- und Offraod-infiziert 😉

Die Wüstentouren, die Dirk anbietet, klingen wirklich super, da kommt gleich Fernweh auf (nicht, dass ich das eh schon dauernd hätte hihi) Der Haken: Das einzige was ich auf 2 Rädern bewegen kann, ist mein schönes altes Fahrrad…

Ich fänds ja schön, wenn man sich vielleicht mal mit ein paar Leuten irgendwo treffen könnte, bei einem Event o.ä. Einige hier sind ja in Norddeutschland ansässig, Hamburg ist für mich auch nicht aus der Welt, habe Freunde da, die ich ab und zu besuche. Aber ist nur so ne Idee, ist meist witzig, wenn man sich mal in so einer Runde trifft.

Thomas, great comment, couldn’t agree more (apart from the fact, that fortunately I didn’t have to stay up all night lol)!! 🙂

I wish to thank you for your effort in making this blog possible. With the very poor race coverage here in California, many of us are starving for information regarding our friends. In addition to this site, there are four others I use several times a day in order to get a true picture of the days events. This site has been more fun than most due to the Google English Translation (some racing terms just donât translate well and sound a little funny if they were to be taken out of context).

I know that this race has been a great experience for all involved. For Dirk the opportunity to navigate for Robby had to of been a treat. Iâm sure that Dirk has felt more pressure to perform from Robby than he has ever had before. He survived that pressure well! We have known how fast Robby is since he was a little boy, now the rally world has seen what a talented driver he is. For Robby to show that he can be a team player is a rare glimpse of maturity, hopefully we can see more if it in the future. Does all of this mean that Mark Miller has lost a navigator?? I hope not but, now that Robby has tasted blood, he most likely will be back.

Ryan and Niki have done a stellar job, always pushing hard and never giving up. To overcome multiple mechanical hardships from unfamiliar equipment really is a test of oneâs resolve. Both Iâm sure have learned a great deal from this race which they will draw from when they return.
