One mistake by Alphand tomorrow could win De Villiers the Dakar, and put Mark and Dirk on the podium. Nissen and De Villiers have to think hard tonight about how to put big pressure on Alphand to test him and force his hand, after they get around Checherit/BMW. VW can do it. They can win it. Tomorrow is the day they have to go out and just take it.

Saby should drop behind Miller after the start to hold off Nani Roma. Miller should be able to gain the 8 mins over Peterhansel without pushing too hard, Peter is starting waaaaay back in the cars, 60th or worse. Passing will be so tough for him tomorrow, he could easily loose 15 to 30 mins just because of that. It should be such a great stage tomorrow; if we are lucky it could be the best stage of the entire race.

Richtig! Spannend wird es nun sicher.
Meine Prognose:
Peterhansel wird sicher nicht 100%ig reparieren können und morgen etwas „gebremst“ weiterfahren. Dadurch haben Mark/Dirk eine gute Chance vorbeizuziehen.
Roma kann aus eigener Kraft nicht auf Platz 1 oder 2 kommen und wird daher auch vorsichtig weiterfahren, um seinen 3. Platz zu halten.
De Villiers wird sicher Druck auf Alphand machen, hat jedoch den Nachteil, dass er morgen hinter ihm starten muss und daher in dessen Staub fährt. Eine wirkliche Chance hat er nur, wenn Alphand sich verfährt, oder durch einen Reifenschaden liegenbleibt. (allerdings nutzt ihm das auch nur dann, wenn ihm selbst nichts dazwischenkommt.
Daher mein Tip für den Zieleinlauf:
Alphand, De Villiers, Roma, Miller
(lasse mich aber auch gern noch positiv überraschen)

Da sieht man mal wieder: die Rallye ist erst am Sonntag wirklich entschieden! Und es ist immer noch eng!
Wieder prima Leistung von Mark und Dirk! 🙂

Damit sollte er auch hinter Mark und Dirk liegen. Sehr schön, es bleibt weiter spannend.

Da bin ich ja mal gespannt, ob Peterhansel in der Gesamtwertung hinter Mark und Dirk rutscht! Aus eigener Kraft werden sie nicht so viel Zeit gut machen können, aber wenn die (noch) vor ihnen platzierten so nach und nach ausscheiden … !?!

Aber: Die Rallye endet erst in Dakar, gell?

Too bad for Peter, but he was perhaps overdue for some bad luck to happen. Like Helge said, it could get much worse for him tomorrow if they are not able to properly service the cars tonight. Lucky for Alphand.

De Villiers must have really stepped on the gas pedal after CP1…good work. Good stage for Mark and Dirk, too. The tactics of Saby, I cannot figure out. Seems to be doing his own thing.

Amazing performances by Chicherit and even Vigouroux today, too.
