Helge, thanks for the link to Dirk’s desert adventures…looks interesting. I live not far from Mojave desert and Baja, love to camp and play around there often in my 4wd Subarus, 1 old and 1 new. It certainly is an exciting race. While I don’t get up in the middle of the night like you Thomas, I still look for updates every morning, while I’m at work (don’t tell my boss) and when I get home. All the updates make me feel like I’m part of the adventure.

That's what I learned the last days: Dakar is not only to win a race, it's simply a big adventure. And of course: we can try to comprehend it a bit on one of Dirk's Trips to Morocco. Klaus: Oh yes, I am following the race until the end. I get up out of bed in the middle of every night to follow the progress via internet, and I will continue to do that until the end. In my earlier message I meant only to say that even now it is an exciting adventure story, no matter what happens next for them.

This Dakar adventure for the Touraeg #317 is somehow even more interesting to me now that they have had obstacles, challenges, and drama. Of course I would like to see them win it as a team in another year, but by the end of this year’s Dakar their story will be a very memorable one.
